Women’s Day Celebration at National Marian Shrine Mariamabad

On 10th March 2026, National Marian Shrine Mariamabad, Pakistan, hosted a special Mass to commemorate Women’s Day. Fr. Tariq George, Rector of the shrine, celebrated the 10:00 am Eucharist, focusing on the significance of women in society and the Church.

In his homily, Fr. Tariq George explored the history of Women’s Day, tracing its origins and evolution over time. He discussed the global struggle for women’s rights, equality, and empowerment, highlighting achievements and challenges.

Fr. Tariq George emphasised the vital roles women play in Pakistani society and the Church. He encouraged the faithful to promote equality, respect, and understanding.

The Mass was attended by women and men from various backgrounds, united in celebrating women’s contributions. Prayers and hymns reflected themes of empowerment, love, and service.

The National Marian Shrine Mariamabad, a symbol of interfaith harmony, used the occasion to promote women’s dignity and value. The shrine’s message echoed Fr. George’s words: “Respect, empower, and cherish women – a path to a brighter future.”
